ALYNN ALLISON BRUTSMAN
Spiritual Director at Holy Spirit House of Prayer
Alynn Allison Brutsman was born in Wallace, Idaho, and was raised in San Jose, California. During her youth she was very active in competitive sports; swimming and gymnastics. She was Homecoming Princess, Cheerleader and involved in Student Body Politics. She attended Northern Arizona University majoring in Geology.
She taught herself to play guitar and loves singing and song writing. She and her mother Enide Allison were the first women to speak at the Rotary Club in Santa Clara, California where she closed singing a couple songs she had written. The subject they spoke about was drug and alcohol abuse in the family and how they overcame it. Alynn has done many radio, television and speaking engagements since then giving back for the miracle she received. “God literally saved my life.” She continues to work in this field, 43 years later.
During her first marriage to Dennis Battaglia, she had 5 children and adopted 1 and found a long lost daughter. She pursued her career in the automotive field throughout her adult life, beginning at age 15 as a file clerk and progressing to Executive Assistant of Oak Tree Mazda and Allison B.M.W.. She studied at the National Automobile Dealers Association qualifying her to take total responsibility of an automobile dealership.
In addition to her career and family life, Alynn and her first husband were very active in Worldwide Marriage Encounter, supporting married life all over the world. She and Dennis were selected to be National Leaders where they served for 3 years on a World Council.
As a sad close, Dennis fell victim to cancer, and Alynn and the 7 children cared for him until his death in the year 2002.
She remarried 2 years later and together with her husband Curtis had their grand opening of The Holy Spirit House of Prayer in October of 2010. Alynn is now a licensed Spiritual Director after studying in Santa Barbara under Abbott David Garreats’ Monastery of the Risen Christ.
The House of Prayer offers hospitality, private and guided retreats, Prayer Meetings and Workshops on Dreams, Art and Writing. For the past 28 years, Alynn has been studying Dreams, “a way to listen to God” under Dr. Jeanne Thomas, Doctor in Jungian Psychology and student of Author, Morton Kelsey. She now specializes in this field with her clients.
In January, 2011, Alynn was the proud recipient of the Woman of the Year Award, presented by the National Association of Professional Women.
